Akshay Kumar has been facing harsh criticism ever since Khiladi Kumar released his first look as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in director Mahesh Manjrekar’s upcoming Marathi period drama Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat. And now Singham actor Prakash Raj has joined the bandwagon and brutally trolled Akshay for his looks and the glitch in the light bulb. The first look of Akshay Kumar as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj shows a chandelier in the frame. There is a visual disturbance in it where the chandelier can be seen setting light bulbs across the rim. The reason behind the trolling is that the bulb was invented much after the tenure of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who ruled from 1630 to 1680. As soon as netizens noticed the glitch, they started trolling Akshay and requested him not to play The Great Maratha King on the big screen. Many also said that be it Emperor Prithviraj or Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, whichever role he plays, Khiladi Kumar from Housefull 4 will always remain Bala for most of the viewers. Taking the criticism a notch higher, Prakash took to Twitter to share a picture of Akshay’s look. He also shared a meme featuring Akshay and PM Narendra Modi, where Modi asked Akshay, “Shivaji Maharaj ke time electric bulb kaise aa gaye gutka khor?” To which Akshay replies, “Just like you got a digital camera in 1988.” The actor captioned his Twitter post saying, “Mann Ki Baat” and followed it with the hashtag #JustAsking.

Trolling apart, the good thing is that producers can learn from social media and correct mistakes in production, provided they are open to taking feedback from the audience they are making films for.

The film’s cast includes Jai Dudhne, Utkarsh Shinde, Vishal Nikam, Virat Madke, Hardik Joshi, Satya, Akshay, Nawab Khan and Praveen Tarde. Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, the film is a Qureshi Production presentation and is slated to hit the theaters on Diwali 2023 in Marathi, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
